Indonesian Students Movie Awards (ISMA) merupakan kompetisi film pendek pelajar tingkat nasional hasil kolaborasi Lembaga Seni Budaya Yayasan Dian Didaktika dan SMA Islam Dian Didaktika. ISMA merupakan sebuah nama re-branding dari Dian Didaktika Film Festival yang sudah dilaksanakan sejak tahun 2017 hingga tahun 2021. Festival film pendek ini merupakan bentuk inovasi serta usaha dari Lembaga Seni Budaya Yayasan Dian Didaktika dan SMA Islam Dian Didaktika untuk mengembangkan dan penyaluran minat, bakat, dan kreativitas sineas pelajar Indonesia dalam memproduksi ide-ide kreatif mereka ke dalam format film pendek dengan mengetengahkan unsur kebudayaan Indonesia. Melalui festival film pendek ini, kami berharap para sineas pelajar Indonesia bisa menjadi ujung tombak perfilman Indonesia di masa mendatang. Tiap tahunnya, kami selalu membawakan tema-tema acara yang merepresentasikan value dari acara kami. Seperti tema yang pernah kami usung yaitu “Film Kami Film Anak Bangsa (2017)” serta “Berkarya Untuk Indonesia (2019)”, kami berusaha untuk mengkampanyekan bahwa film pendek pelajar Indonesia merupakan karya anak bangsa yang patut dibanggakan. Selain itu tema lainnya yang pernah kami bawakan yaitu “Developing Imagination, Improving Innovation (2018)”, “Self Discovery (2020)”, serta “Exceed Expectation (2021)”, tema-tema tentang perjalanan sineas pelajar mencari jati diri mereka melalui karya. Kami percaya bahwa melalui karya, sineas pelajar dapat memproyeksi dan menemukan jati diri mereka melalui nilai moral yang disampaikan hingga ke gaya film yang ditampilkan. Dengan keluasan kategori yang kami berikan, para peserta tidak terbatasi untuk membuat karya yang mencerminkan penerimaan diri mereka. Sebagai sineas pelajar, kita sering kali mengalami benturan antara idealisme diri sendiri dengan penerimaan orang lain terhadap karya kita. Padahal, karya tidak selalu berbicara tentang bagaimana kita sebagai sineas pelajar berusaha diterima orang lain, karya yang kita buat harusnya menjadi sebuah kejujuran diri serta refleksi diri kita terhadap nilai dari karya itu sendiri. “Acceptability”, tema yang kami usung pada tahun ini. Melalui tema ini, kami ingin mendorong para sineas pelajar untuk menerima diri serta karya mereka, terlepas dari kualitas awal yang bisa dibilang menjadi bahan belajar dan berproses mereka. Kami ingin sineas pelajar mendobrak anggapan-anggapan orang lain yang mendiskreditkan karya mereka. Melalui karya para sineas pelajar, mereka dapat beranjak dari semua penerimaan diri yang telah ditaruh pada karya mereka dan juga dari semua yang telah terjadi pada 2020-2021. Disaat semua orang mengira bahwa kita belum pulih dari tragedi yang terjadi di dua tahun tersebut, melalui kesempatan ini para sineas pelajar akan melampaui diri mereka dan stigma tersebut dengan terus berkarya dan berinovasi.

Indonesian Students Movie Awards (ISMA) is a short film competition for students at the national level, which is a result of a collaboration between the Institute of Cultural Arts of Dian Didaktika Foundation and the Islamic High School of Dian Didaktika. ISMA is a re-branding name for Dian Didaktika Film Festival, which has been held since 2017 to 2021. This short film festival is a form of innovation and an effort from Dian Didaktika Foundation for Arts and Culture and Dian Didaktika Islamic High School to develop and distribute interest, talent, and creativity through out Indonesia's student filmmakers to produce their creative ideas into a short film format by highlighting element’s of indonesia’s cultures. Through this short film festival, we hope that Indonesia’s student filmmakers will be able to become a startup of Indonesia’s upcoming cinematography in the future. Every year, we would always bring up event themes that will represent the value of our event. Like the theme that we once carried as in, “Film Kami Film Anak Bangsa (2017)” and “Berkarya Untuk Indonesia (2019)”, we did our best to bring up a kampanye that Indonesia’s student short films are the work of the nation's children, which deserved to be proud of. Other than that, the other themes that has been brought up by us such as, “Developing Imagination, Improving Innovation (2018)”, “Self Discovery (2020)”, and “Exceed Expectation (2021)”, themes about the journey of filmmaker students to finding their identity and passion through their art works. We believe that through art, filmmaker students are able to project and find their own identity through moral values that are conveyed to the style of the film shown. With the broad categories that we provide, participants are not limited to create works that reflect their self-acceptance. As a filmmaker student, we often experience a clash between our own idealism and the acceptance of others towards our work. In fact, our work does not always talk about how we, as student filmmakers try to be accepted by others, the work we make should be a self-honesty and reflection of ourselves on the value of the work itself. “Acceptability”, that is the theme that we brought up this year. Through this theme, we want to push Indonesia’s student filmmakers to accept themselves and their own art works, regardless of the initial quality which can be considered as material for their learning and processing. We want Indonesian student filmmakers to break the assumptions of others who discredit their work. Through the artworks of our filmmaker students, they are able to move on from all the self-acceptance that has been placed on their work as well as from all that has happened in 2020-2021. When the whole world thought that they were not able to heal from the tragedy that occurred during the last two years, with this chance, Indonesia’s student filmmakers will go beyond themselves and their stigma by continuing to work and innovate.
